I found these framed photos at The Salvation Army. I don't know who they are, or if they are sisters or friends, but I couldn't leave them there on the shelf. Someone had obviously displayed them together in matching frames which makes me think they are likely to be sisters. The one in the middle has her name, Arlene, inscribed in the corner. I named the one on the left Bunny, because she looks like the baby sister, and the one on the right Dot. I have them on a shelf in my craft room near my sewing machine.
They are my new friends, and I think they are so beautiful.

Half an hour into to the Lemonade Stand there are still no customers. They have started some bold sales techniques now.......waving-jumping-screaming at passing cars. They also asked if they could go and start ringing the neighbors' doorbells to tell them about the stand. We have to take a break for a ball game soon, so they will have time to work out their tactics!

An Unlucky Day For Glass.....
During the storm Saturday night, our outdoor table flew around, and the glass top shattered. There was glass everywhere on the pavement and in the grass. We spent the morning picking glass bits out of the lawn. Before we were finished with that task, one of the kids had started to open one of the NEW windows in the living room....but only unlatched the bottom latch.....the window was practically bent in half, and cracked.....it was a gruesome....unwelcome sound. The kids disappeared from the scene, and we found out that they were opening the window to talk to the birds. There was a brief, "How To Open A Window Properly" lesson.

FIRST PICKING OF THE SEASON!
Our strawberry patch is small, but produces enough berries daily to keep us smiling. This year there are actually some that are big enough to impress! The kids love going out to see how many berries turned red each day....that little bit of joy makes it worth having the patch!
I LOVE APRONS! They were commonly referred to as "Kitchen Pretties", in a much simpler time. Maybe it's the simpleness that I love....the comfort of home and family.
"There was a time when a woman rose and put on her apron as her most functional piece of clothing. She hardly left her bed, let alone her house without it. Early photographs of frontier women bear witness to the one garment common to all - the apron. Frontier women wore aprons with pockets. Those pockets concealed hankies, leftover cold biscuits and ham, small toys, eyeglasses, roots, plants, and other stuff gathered from the wilderness."
